Planning on visiting Vancouver or the Rocky Mountains?By Moselle from Oxford, England , 20 Apr 2005
[Highly rated reviewer]Having grown up in Vancouver and recently been on a trip to the Rocky Mountains I believe this film offers a good introduction to the area. It starts with a tour of Vancouver's main tourist attractions. While the first two areas they show Chinatown & Gastown are popular with tourist they fail to mention the major drug and poverty issues in these areas. The film is a little dated, Vancouver has come along in huge strides since it was filmed (for example the basic chairlift shown at grouse Mountain has since been replaced with a high speed chairlift).
The film then moves into showing the train journey from Vancouver to Banff. It does a good job of showing the beautiful landscape while providing interesting historical references. At times it does feel a bit too much like a marketing video for the Rocky Mountaineer train but this should be beneficial to indecisive travellers. I myself have never done this trip but it does look like a great way to see a truly amazing part of Canada.

Great train journeyBy a customer from Doncaster , 24 Aug 2008This film is a typical member of the World Class Trains series, in other words a mixture of travelogue about Canada and an on-board train journey. Both a general audience and railway enthusiasts may be disappointed, but if you know what to expect, it is great.
MiserableBy Jeff Standen from Boston, UK , 14 Sep 2007I knew the type of film - one of a series of documentary travelogues - when I ordered it. I saw a similar one recently about the Canadian Pacic - same series. That was in autumn and it rained. This one is at Christmas, and it snowed. It does in Canada, snow, that is. But it could have been sooo much better if it was in Summer. It just made me miserable and gloomy watching it. Don't bother.
RubbishBy a customer from Northampton , 16 Mar 2006This is basically an advertisment for a trip on the Rocky Mountaineer. This is the sort of thing I would expect to be sent if I was considering making a booking.
Rockt MountaineerBy Chris from Caerphilly , 29 Jul 2005Very disappointing as it was a trip in winter. You see one stretch of line with snow-covered trees either side, you've seen it all. Plus I wanted to see the line, not Vancouver.
Train TravelBy a customer from Edinburgh , 13 Jun 2005Having done this trip Last year with my son, Jasper to Vancouver I totally recommend the trip, the dvd shows the tenth year of the company, a few things have now changed (all for the better, not that it required any improvement) this one is set in winter but it is a good insight to the journey.
