A well made and involving film. The subject matter would be shocking if it was fiction, that the events portrayed actually happened is nightmarish. A film that needs to be seen but pick a day when you're not feeling depressed.

The whole subject matter is potentially too depressing for filming, but this is so well done you will stick with it. Worth the effort.

A heart-breaking film, but so important to see exactly what went on during WW2 in Paris. The production and appearance were excellent, a really well told episode of history.

A fine film, based on the same true event as the more commercial Sarah's Key - the round-up & deportation of Parisian Jews by the French (not German) authorities in 1942. This is a harrowing film, relieved only by the actions of a few brave & humane individuals.

  • The best film on the paris deportation ever

This film is very well made, as we follow the variety of characters through the film you are drawn into there lives and when the inevitable bad happens it effects you deeply. I cried several times during the film as you cant forget that this really happened. we follow a few jewish familys during the round up of parisian jews during the war. reno plays a jewish doctor dedicated to helping his people. we also meet the people that tried to help the jewish people, and those that where accomplish to the crime. this is one of the best films i have ever seen, it cannot be compared as some have done to Sarahs key or The boy in the stripped pajamas, it portrays the subject in its own way.

  • La Rafle

I was reminded of Life is Beautiful when I started watching this film - there are lovely and amusing scenes at the start and although it is also film of two halves, this film does not go quite as far as 'L is B'.

Occupied Paris is brought to life very well. The director does not shy away from difficult subjects - complicity of the French, cowardice and racism but he also shows their bravery too. The scenes of 'la rafle' itself, the conditions in the velodrome and afterwards are boldly drawn and seemingly accurate. That it is shocking that this was allowed to happen in France by the French comes over well. Another film could explore the reasons why this was so, but this film does not. It follows the characters and tells their story.
