An adult does occasionally intrude upon the world of baseball, lifeguards and savage dogs described in this pleasing rite-of-passage picture. However, this enchanted summer really belongs to the kids, in particular Tom Guiry, the pre-teen who makes Charlie Brown look like Babe Ruth. Although the games on the sandlot provide the focus, this isn't just another sports movie. It's about self-discovery and learning how to deal with the scuffed knees of life. Mike Vitar shines alongside Guiry, but the entire pre-teen cast is so good you almost overlook the presence of grown-ups Denis Leary, Karen Allen and James Earl Jones.

    One for the kids

American as apple pie but the boys loved it (9 and 12). Predictable, but devoid of adult perspectives it has an unusual appeal.

    Fun for all the family

Best film my family have watched for years. Funny and clean humour with an interesting storyline. My wife and I and two daughters thoroughly enjoyed it.

Not bad movie, nothing too taxing to follow. Typical kiddy fun for the whole family to enjoy.
