The Santa Clause
When Santa Claus gets killed in a freak accident after being startled on the rooftop of a house, it looks like Christmas is ruined. But fortunately, just before his death, the jolly, gift-giver passed the torch to ad executive Scott Calvin (Tim Allen), who finishes the job of bestowing holiday cheer on all. When he finally reaches on the North Pole, however, Scott learns that he can't give up the job -- he's become the next Santa Claus. (THAT'S the Santa Clause!). Scott returns home, only to find himself slowly changing into the pudgy, white-haired old man so beloved of children... and to find that everyone around him considers him utterly and completely mad.

One of the best Christmas films
Great film for all the family. Been a little while since I'd seen this and having seen it again I think I'll need to go an buy it.
The story follows a dad and his son one Christmas night when due to an accident the sceptical dad finds himself having to finish Santa's deliveries. Of course when next year comes around is the new Santa going to believe in himself in time to take on the job again.
There was a sequel to this film which was pretty good but this is the better of the two films. -

The other day I watched our three-year-old’s stage début, typecast already as a wise man. The performance wasn’t all it might have been, to be honest. He seemed more interested in feeding straw to Baby Jesus than joining in any of the carols. Until, that is, a rousing rendition of "Santa Claus is Coming to Town" triggered his inner Kanye.
