    Disappointing

Sorry, it didn't do it for me. Although the preview and the cast looked good, I found the film disappointing. I haven't read the book but I thought there was no real development to the story or the characters in the movie, and it just became a bit boring.

    Less [powerful but....

Film is less powerful than the book, mainly because some detail was omitted. Still, this is a moving film. The story takes place immediately after the Civil Rights Bill has been passed and brings out some of the cruelties of 1960's racism in America.
