Classic family filmBy Lottstar (14 reviews) from Peterborough , 18 Sep 2012I loved this film as a child and watched it again with my own children. It is beautifully animated and wonderful to watch. Okay the story isn't that great and it's a bit wishy, washy on the characters. It still remains a classic in my eyes.
Great family filmBy a customer , 10 Nov 2011This is a great family film and i highly recommend it to anyone with small children, they will love it!
For once, I agree with the Nostalgia Critic!By jenny1 (4 reviews) from London , 06 Feb 2011The Nostalgia Critic, who 'remembers it, so we don't have to', refers to this film as the number one greatest underrated nostalgic film of all time. And I must agree!
This film was amazing stuff, from start to finish, a unique blend of environmentalist message, fantasy, action and drama. And best of all, NO FREAKING MUSICAL NUMBERS!
The animation is amazing (as is to be expected from Bluth, the GOD of the 80s animation scene), the characters are well written and acted, the story is fast paced and gripping, the tone is dark and sombre, and last but certainly not least, it has DOM FREAKING DELUISE voice acting!
Why this film is so unknown nowadays, I have no idea (Probably because the distributors had the smarts to not mutilate the name with endless sequels and spinoffs)
A minor classicBy Chris88mph (5 reviews) from Stanley , 17 Mar 2010This was a great film - the animation is subtle and distinctive, the themes are complex despite the film's brevity, and the story is deceptively simple. It doesn't always hit the mark, but the creativity in this film is something that just couldn't happen with a studio like Disney. A few stock, cliched characters aside (the comedy sidekick crow, for example), this is a masterpiece.
Lovely little filmBy Sammy1973 (304 reviews) from King's Lynn , 06 Feb 2010I read the book and watched the film as a child. Having watched it again it is really good, action going on all the way, no boring lulls. It's not too long so little ones won't get bored, has scary bits, action bits and funny bits. Great little family film.
