amazing animation and sound track
By a customer from edinburgh , 02 Feb 2010[Highly rated reviewer]
I saw this film at the Edinburgh International Film festival last summer where it won the audience prize for best film in the festival. I don't normally watch animation but I went on a friend's recommendation. I am so glad I had the chance to see it as it does not have a UK release yet. It is impossible to say anything descriptive in words that would do the film justice. I would recommend it to all.- Was this review helpful to you?

(52)Great animation but slow plot
By majortom2001 (72 reviews) from Worthing, UK , 07 Apr 2013Not much happens in this movie. I won't publish any spoilers here but when you get to the end of the film you realise not much has occured. The pace of the film is slow - I slept through parts of it on my first couple of attempts However the animation is at times beautiful and although there is a bit of disney style schmaltziness there isn't too much.- Was this review helpful to you?

Blew their minds
By mairegaire (1 review) , 20 Feb 2012Beautiful, enchanting, mesmerising, bewitching. The kids watched it again and again and then insisted I buy a copy to keep. Since watching it, they keep talking about it, about art, celtic design, monasteries, forests, magic and folklore. It blew their minds, and made me a very happy parent indeed.- Was this review helpful to you?

A secret gem
By RJNeb2 (923 reviews) from London , 03 Feb 2012A left-field surprise Oscar nominee in the Best Animated Feature category, the first few frames confirm why this was a sound choice. Inspired by the Book of Kells, the film is jaw-droppingly beautiful to behold, a riot of intoxicating colour and stylized design. Narratively, its slight in its fanciful telling of how the famous book came to be but its an absolute charmer.- Was this review helpful to you?
