A dearth of amusing, endearing performances.

A very nice film indeed.

Simplistic in many ways but beautifully shot and scored.

If you're looking for explosive martial arts action, look elsewhere.

Christopher Lee delivers the goods as always and shines head and shouders above the rest of the cast in his almost cameo appearance.

That said, this film really displays the quality and diversity of David Carradines (RIP) talent. Qualities that were not always visible or afforded to him in the narrowly scoped roles that he was more famous for.

Eli Wallach is hilarious as the man in oil and his performance is not unique for humourous content.
