After weeks of competition, the location for The Simpsons Movie's debut is to be the town of Springfield, Vermont. The region, which is situated in the north-east of the US, challenged over a dozen other Springfields in the country for the honour, but took first place and will now host the premiere. Fans eagerly awaiting the release of The Simpsons Movie might be interested to hear of a few titbits seen by critics this weekend. In a ten-minute preview, London journalists were treated to a late night clip of the film, which has been created with a great deal of secrecy and no clues as to what the plot might entail. In a week featuring the release of two of this summer's biggest blockbusters, The Simpsons Movie has come out on top and beaten Transformers to be the number one film in the UK.
