  • Ageing crooner

French pretentious romance with sub-titles . Ageing love story crooner falls for young beautiful single mother. Slowly explores their relationship and what they share and give to each other. Typical slow moving French film that could be half the length. A review above this one said one of the best films he has ever seen? What ?

Slow and boring.. Dull slow moving and a waste of 2 hours of my time watching it. Fell asleep before it finished.

  • One of the Best Films I have seen in my 40 years of Existence

    Rated - 5.0 stars

Am amazing tour de force from Gerard and Cecile. I loved every minute of this movie. I loved the songs, cheesy as the lyrics may be. I loved the acting, storyline and especially the subtlety of the performances.

Cecile De France was absolutely Amazing !! Her facial expressions alone had me in Tears. That woman can act with her Emotions alone. No dialogue necessary.

The ending was beautiful and sad in the most touching way. The song that accompanied the Finale was perfect. I I have watched it 8 times.

Watch It now. i dare you not to cry.

  • Hard going film

The 2 main characters keep the film moving along quite nicley, but I wouldn't say it was amazing. Trouble with this film is that you would only watch it to Gerad Depardieu as he always out shines every one else which is luckiy in this film. not worth it otherwise.

Don't usually do reviews now, but in view of some here I think this might be helpful in making a choice.

I am nearly 73 and I think this is probably not one for a lot of younger men or a film for the ladies although it does have a certain charm they may enjoy. However, for me it touchingly portrays the common problems which are gradually experienced with ageing, especially for those in the entertainment business. The singer is no longer young and has a failed marriage (and a line of work still being managed by his ex but which is being killed off by disco and karaoke) with an attraction to a much younger woman who has her own baggage and unhappiness. Some say it is boring, nothing happens. Au contraire. The observation and character delineation by a director who is still quite young is skilled and remarkable. This is not a piece of fluff but a gentle social comment made as only the French can. I also enjoyed two very haunting songs used, and the (tongue in cheek) title song which is only played over the end credits. Don’t miss the Extra features or judge till seen, preferably before the film itself.
