    [Highly rated reviewer]

Theo van Gogh film about the murder of prominent anti-immigration/anti islamist campaigner Pim Fortuyn. Centred around press photographer Jim de Booy (Thijs Romer), through a sequence of events a plot unravels about who was really behind the assassination of Fortuyn. This was a major incident in the recent political history of the Netherlands and divided the nation deeply. Theo van Gogh's version of what occurred is controversial and shocking...adversarial in nature the storyline increases in suspense as the layers of intrigue peel away to reveal his take on what caused the shooting on 6th May, 2002. A sense of irony permeates this film in view of van Gogh's own assassination 2 years later. Worth a viewing.

I am Dutch and I really liked this movie, giving an insight on what happened on the day of Pim Fortuyns assassination - he was an extreme right politician who got killed on the 6th of May 2002.

This movie is based on true events and has a good story and a bit of action, too. It follows a photographer who was present at the shooting.

However, my husband is Scottish, and although he enjoyed the movie, he reckons it might be a bit complicated for people who don't know anything about the Dutch political system. It's not just about politics though, the movie is simply a good action movie, too.

Needless to say this movie is in Dutch with subtitles.
