Not what you remember.By Azzy (22 reviews) from Benfleet , 11 Jun 2010
[Highly rated reviewer]Just to warn you all.. The Smurfs are secondary characters in this as it is a film version of the very first Belgian comic they appeared in.
Bit of a European comic book Geek.. sorry!
Also, all voices, animation etc are very different to the cartoon you all remember. Bit of a deceptive cover.
I did have this as a kid, however, and LOVED it. It hadn't aged well in 1985, and I doubt it looks any good these days. Anyway.. it's prob the best Smurf narrative! HAHA!
There are DVD box sets of the series out too if you really want the retro hit.
Yeah.. I gave it 4 stars cos I love the Smurfs. Sorry!
Worth a watchBy a customer , 15 Aug 2012My kids (11 and 9) really enjoyed this, simple and charming film. Slightly disappointing that the Smurfs aren't the main characters.
Not the best film ever ...By WideGassySea (1 review) , 23 Feb 2012Pretty dire to be totally honest
The Smurfs are hardly in it and it is exceptionally dated
It did wile away a cold couple of hours tho, so it isnt all bad
An old but "Smurfy" filmBy Dan5589 (1 review) , 10 Nov 2011You may know about the cartoon show by Hanna-Barbera with your favourite lovable blue characters in their mushroom village, BUT this film may be different from that. (And it's also an old film in 1976)
Ever since I recently started to have some interest in The Smurfs a couple of months ago, I thought I give this film a chance to watch and enjoy as well. And I did, it was good, although it's not much like the television series, even the Smurfs didn't make their appearance until 20 minutes later after the beginning of the film.
Plus some several character names were different from what they're originally named in both the comics and the show, for example:
Johan - John, Peewit - William, Greedy - Sweety, Hefty - Strongman and etc.
The story plot itself was really good as it has based on the comic by Peyo, and as for the Blu-ray itself, It might not be much likely HD, but the picture is superior (Except for the ending credits) and the audio is quite fine as well.
Overall 'The Smurfs and the Magic Flute' might be pretty much as an old film, but it's definitely worth it.
I would even recommend it to the fans of The Smurfs, if they're known the franchise very well as well as interested to see what the film is like.
retro smurfs.By greenroom1971 (9 reviews) from Northampton , 16 Sep 2011animation looks realy dated, the same can be said of the characters[voices]. if you was a kid in the 1970,s ,this is a nostalga movie,u will probably want to see..? if not i probably wouldnt bother..!
Great wee watchBy Minty8 (196 reviews) from Randalstown, Antrim , 17 Aug 2011Like the other reviews this is not a big smurfs movie, but a cartoon movie in which the smurfs play a part in.
Despite this I really enjoyed this movie, a good watch for sure.
