A beautiful film which makes me wish I could believe it...

' A Beautiful Lady'.........and a beautiful story that occurred not so very long ago in a small town in France, which is now world-famous.
Jennifer Jones is superb, the direction and all technical departments are 'spot-on'. It deserved its awards.
It seems it might live on in cinema as much as that town in France.
Highly recommended- Was this review helpful to you?

The Song of Bernadette
By a customer from Falkirk , 03 Apr 2009Everybody has heard of Lourdes but how many have a clear idea of how the little town became so famous? The film is based on a book by Franz Werfel, a Jew who escaped to the United States during the war. He had hidden for a time in Lourdes and learned the story then. He wrote his account as a thankoffering for his escape. The account is a very competent explanation of the story of Lourdes - or of the young visionary, Bernadette. There is a one-sided love interest which is doubtfully authentic but did help to arouse the massive popular appeal when the film came out.- Was this review helpful to you?
