' A Beautiful Lady'.........and a beautiful story that occurred not so very long ago in a small town in France, which is now world-famous.

Jennifer Jones is superb, the direction and all technical departments are 'spot-on'. It deserved its awards.

It seems it might live on in cinema as much as that town in France.

    Highly recommended

For those who believe, no explanation is necessary.....

For those who do not believe, no explanation is possible.

A very interesting, true account, of how Lourdes became what it is today !!!

Everybody has heard of Lourdes but how many have a clear idea of how the little town became so famous? The film is based on a book by Franz Werfel, a Jew who escaped to the United States during the war. He had hidden for a time in Lourdes and learned the story then. He wrote his account as a thankoffering for his escape. The account is a very competent explanation of the story of Lourdes - or of the young visionary, Bernadette. There is a one-sided love interest which is doubtfully authentic but did help to arouse the massive popular appeal when the film came out.
