Jon Whiteley is Nicholas, a 'sickly' lad living with father Consul Michael Hordern. Eventually he establishes a warm friendship with gardener Jose

Dirk Bogarde who is a lovely contrast to the boy's over controlling father.

Nicholas becomes happy through the attention and caring of the gardener. Alas the father is jealous and tries to break up the friendship but love conquers all.

A typical 1950s film with non Spanish accents. Not a all action film but if you like a simple story and good acting this film will find a way into your heart as it has mine.

I have taken account of its somewhat far fetched ending as my head would award 3 stars and my heart 5 so it gets 4.
