A Good Explosive Film
By Nigel Scott from Newcastle, England , 25 Aug 2004[Highly rated reviewer]
I originally rented this movie, thinking I had seen it before, but not being sure I watched it through again. I hadn't seen it before, and was thoroughly pleased with it! It had a good plotline with some excellent action scenes. Stallone was a great part in the film and it is a generally good title for those liking the mystery/action/what happens next genre.- Was this review helpful to you?

(23)Actions nostalgia from Sly.
By dcnstntn (2 reviews) , 05 Jun 2012As a child of the 80s with memories of Stallone, van Damme, Schwarezenegger and Seagal today's action stars don't really cut it.
I couldn't believe that I hadn't seen this movie, and quickly snapped it up in my eagerness for a true action movie. I wasn't disappointed. Explosions a plenty, a good performance by stallone, a sexy female (Stone) and some easy to hate bad guys (Woods and Roberts). Set in Miami, the locations in the film are delightful and whilst the acting is never Oscar winning in this type of film - it's easy to follow, and great for its nostalgia value!
If you like Stallone, Stone, Woods or Roberts, you will enjoy this movie.- Was this review helpful to you?

Specialist is especially mediocre
By MickytheG (7 reviews) from Reading , 10 Sep 2011If it wasn't for the star quality of the three principals it would be a total waste of time. As it is it is only a waste of time.- Was this review helpful to you?

Nice Baddie Rom-Romp
By Jeremiaz (18 reviews) from London , 31 Aug 2011[Highly rated reviewer]
A nicely paced drama with a delicious Sharon Stone, sulky Stallone and charmingly acerbic James Woods. A gem from an era when CGI and 3D weren't mandatory.- Was this review helpful to you?

Specially Awful
By Martinbuckley (22 reviews) from London , 20 Aug 2011[Highly rated reviewer]
A tribute to the power of star charisma over all else. This film is gorgeously dreadful in every single department --- not least the portentous John Barry score, which is a million miles from Miami and constantly feels like a medley of the sad bits from On Her Majesty's Secret Service. But -- BIG but -- the performances are a scream. Rod Steiger gives it a sort of Latino King Lear, James Wood is OTT as only he can be, Sharon is sooo, sooo sexy and Sly is broody, and TINY! -- in the shower scene Sharon looms over him! This film is to be treasured as higher trash -- and set alongside something like the Mel Gibson vehicle Payback, it's a masterpiece.- Was this review helpful to you?

Packing Heat
By a customer , 14 Aug 2011A bit excessive on the explosions, but overall good acting. Also a lot of scenes get quite heated, excluding the explosions, gun fights and bantering fueled rages.- Was this review helpful to you?
