The Specials - Too Much, Too Young

The band that we have all come to know as The Specials was formed in Coventry as The Automatic in 1977. Jerry Dammers, Horace Panter, Lynval Golding, Silverton Hutchison and Tim Strickland played a mixture of punk and reggae to locals, with Terry Hall soon replacing Tim as vocalist. Roddy Byers was also recruited as lead guitarist and they went on to support The Clash on tour in 1978. A few name changes later and the band finally settled on The Specials, and went on to have great success, both in the UK and Worldwide.
