Not having seen the original I had no pre-conceptions about this remake of Stepford Wives. Usually I'm a bit wary of films, especially comedy films that pack in so many movie stars. I often feel as if they do this to cover up a weak story line or plot. This wasn?t the case whatsoever with SW, Kidman was exceptional in this role as was the amazing Bette Midler, whom I've had a soft spot for since I was young. If you?re looking for something intellectual and thought provoking, this isn?t for you. Stepford Wives is a lighthearted comedy, that doesn?t take it's self too seriously, and I found myself laughing quite often. Also check out the deleted scenes, there is a hysterical cut of Bette Midler.

The Stepford Wives is funny at times and this is one of those films that is easy to watch and has a feel good feeling to it. I think Nicole kidman plays her role well, so does Christopher Walken and Bette Midler. I also find the idea of this movie is funny and every time I have watched this film, I think 'What If the world was like that?'. The concept is quite well executed and is entertaining.

This really spoiled the original film.It was just a vehicle to camp things up and play out the gay agenda.

There's a much more comprehensive and balanced review in Empire. (www.empireonline.com). This is a whole different take and maybe more accessible than the first and worth a glance or two.
