A cop filmBy a customer , 20 Dec 2013Better than most current cop films . an intellectual thriller this is not, but 1hr 47mins of entertainment this film is.
not that badBy gonz (1 review) , 15 Dec 2013It wasn't all that bad, I've seen worse films. Not seen original so can't compare. Better than most cop films to come out of the states these days.
A.R.S.E Kicking GoodBy Stevo2 (12 reviews) from Elgin , 05 Dec 2013Awww come on negative reviewers! What were you expecting? As far as I'm concerned you should have known what to expect when renting this film! It's a good NEW- fashioned British crime caper for those like me too young to remember the original series (maybe it WAS a belter, I assume it was, fans.) Director Nick Love presents us the Flying Squad as a team of hardy a$$ kicking police, the girls kick harder by the way! It's all the Londoner hard talk that I love like 'Get orf moi manor you ponces' and includes cool car chases (my Lexus would see off that Ford!) So come on, car chases for the guys, a$$ kicking dames for the dames, it's a win for all, and it's British!
Just don't expect it to be as good as the original.By BiffaBacon (21 reviews) from Orpington , 05 Dec 2013Not as good as the original Sweeney, but these remakes never are. Take Starsky & Hutch for example. But, if you can separate yourself from the series then I think it was ok. Good general entertainment. Thought Ray Winstone was very good as Regan but plan B was completely useless as Carter. The second half of the film, meandered and the end was a bit of a dramatic full stop. Overall, I enjoyed it.
the sweeney in name only.By emperor10 (217 reviews) from newcastle upon tyne , 03 Dec 2013Unimaginative,predictable story, with a horrible, constant soundtrack (trying to copy the soundtrack of batman - the dark knight rises, but failing). And Ray Winestone - playing...Ray winestone. A 2D actor, cast along with Ben (Plan B) Drew, who quite frankly cant act for toffee. He should stick to singing. Im really surprised a good actor such as Damian Lewis has agreed to star in this rubbish. Oh,and if you want to be put off your food, there are a few scenes of Winestone, when he isn't looking as though he is going to go into cardiac arrest in action scenes, having a couple of 'sex scenes', being all sweaty, with his gut out,in his underpants. Yep,nauseating.
