Not even Jet Li combined with above average production values and at times beautiful cinematography can compensate for the annoying over use of wire work and confused storyline of this action fantasy.
If you want to see Jet Li and Tsui Hark at their combined best rent 'Once Upon A Time In China' instead.
Better than the first sequel, but undermind by the poor script; it could've been better.
i am a jet li fan but i think this a very bad movie.atleast i did not enjoy it

The only thing good about this first sequel to the far superior 'The Swordsman' is the fact that Jet Li takes over in the lead role. Very flashy action and some gory special effects cannot hide the fact that this is just average stuff at best.
For sheer entertainment, this is one of Jet Li's best HK action movies, filled with insanely stylised wirework, horses being chopped in half, gender-shifting villains and (strangest of all) even Cantonese pop songs that are enjoyable and affecting. The tone of the movie veers from grim and gory to lighthearted and sensuous within minutes, but that is par for the course for HK films. The direction, playing, art design, music and action lift it into the stratosphere. If you've only seen Li's by the numbers US movies, give this wild and woolly offering from his glory days a chance.
Oh Jet, I mourn for the days of Shaolin Temple when your kung-fu skills were unsupassed. What has become of you? AVOID AT ALL COSTS
The action was ok but the story was not and the action of jet li could not save this one
not as good as the first movie but jet li is always good to watch.
I didn't enjoy the film despite being a Jet Li fan as the storyline was poor and the action even for him was too far fetched.
This was a far superior film to the original. A true Kung Fu film. Jet Li in one of his better roles.
