    [Highly rated reviewer]

'The Taqwacores' explores the interface between faith, religion and humanity and the tensions between the three. Religion often wants to prescribe what faith should look like while some individuals want the freedom to explore and customise. 'The Taqwacore' looks at these issues being worked out in an Islamic punk house and im sure as a non muslim i probably missed alot of references but despite that i found the film thought provoking and fun, a pretty neat combination. Especially prominent were themes of inclusion and exclusion that occur in any group. Good film on various levels.

The premise is not promising but the film is an absolute triumph. Really its massively good. De Wulf gets the best lines and the most unusual riot starter award. Dominic Rains' character is wise wise wise. I wanted more, lots more.
