Viewed as a fairytale about the American Dream, this Capra-esque fish-out-of-water whimsy provides some affecting comedy drama, but it doesn't fully convince thanks to director Steven Spielberg's reluctance to confront harsh realities. Tom Hanks is superb as the Eastern European who becomes trapped in visa hell after a military coup in his native Krakozhia means his country is no longer recognised by the US government. Stranded indefinitely at JFK airport, he learns English from TV, eats leftover fast food, finds work renovating the building, falls for ditzy flight attendant Catherine Zeta-Jones and is harassed by Stanley Tucci's power-hungry official. While the performances are appealing, Spielberg relies too heavily on the airport-terminal-as-microcosm-of-society angle and the saccharine sentimentality gets piled on as the credibility decreases. If you can suspend your disbelief, then great, but if you can't, beware.

Inspired by the true story of an Iranian who has lived in a French airport for more than ten years, this is a sly, observant, upbeat fable of persistence and survival Ð and the eccentricity to be found lurking in unexpected places.

I cant comment on the special features etc on this disc as it isnt out yet.

However I cant rate this movie enough. Ive given it 4 not 5 as I think movies need time to develop into classic's but for a modern movie I thought this was great.

The story takes place in the 'small' world of the airport terminal (hence the name' and how Viktor develops in these confines with limited english, no funds and no idea of what is happening to him.

Smacks of Forrest Gump in some instances (like how he is a master builder or learns english) but the movie is emotive endearing and light hearted. Even the bureaucrat's are likable (except Frank Dixon)

    Definately worth several watch's.

    Weird

I have to say it was not what i expected. Within the first 20 minutes i realised it was not what i was expecting from a Tom Hanks film. Don't get me wrong, it was a good film, just not what i expected. Definately worth a watch

Catch me if you can II

If you liked Catch me if you can, you'll like this.

CZJ lets the team down with some acting fit for Holly Oaks and there are some truely cringe-worthy bits. Overall though, it's worth watching.

Excellent movie - Tom Hanks is brilliant - this movie has some romance, some sad moments, plenty of funny moments which overall make this well worth watching.the kind of film you could watch over and over again.

Absolute rubbish. Can't believe Spielberg directed this. You know the premise - a man is stuck at an airport. He can't fly home, he can't get a visa. This is all good - very original. What makes the film crawl, stutter and keel over and die is Tom Hanks awful accent and the superfluous 'love interest' from Zeta-Jones.

At over 2 hours long this could have been edited down by at least 30 minutes to make a half decent film.

    Spielberg's greatest horror.

Insulting, patronizing and demeaning to anyone who is not American. This movies soul purpose is to have the main character played by Tom Hanks, represents the rest of the world which is spoken down, treated like a fool and pushed around in legal bound to within the law.

Whilst sitting through what seems to honestly be a slow motion car crash, this shockingly bad film almost makes you hope that the main character will contract some sort of fatal illness hence ending the movie early. It's not funny, it's not clever, and it’s not even touching. I would rather give birth to a cactus rather than have to sit through this utter torture ever again. The film could have been so much better had the casting been less pretentious, the acting believable, and the script actually having a point.

For the sake of your children and your children's children, please do not waste your time in seeing this horrific movie.

Not leaving on a jet plane today.

Not really sure what to say, a man who no longer has an identity because his country is at war is stuck in an airport until he can be sent home again, he isn't allowed any where apart from the airport.

Really funny film but not what I was expecting, I thought it would be a slapstick romance, it's not at all it's more of a friendship than a romance and the humour is not the main focus of the film.

I love Tom Hanks in this (he is great in anything) super role for Zeta Jones, I'm not her biggest fan but she was fab in this.

    Definitely worth a watch.

    Brilliantly acted

First off, let me start by saying this: How can people be so narrow minded? The amount of low reviews this movie has recieved is shocking and unnecessary. The film is a joy to watch.

This is NOT a comedy. Do not rent if you are expecting a laugh-out-loud affair. This movie is about one man's determination to fulfil his father's desire, it is heart moving and very sentimental.

Please ignore any errors or parts which you may think are far-fetched, watch the movie for the brilliant feeling you get at the end...

    Feel good movie

Tom Hanks makes you laugh and cry. Catherine Zeta Jones essays a role which has limited scope and screentime.

The script is good in the sense that it holds ur interest despite being stalled at Gate 62 for 99% of the movie time.

The Climax is not believable, all rules being flouted for one single person because he is too good and has a reason for his persistence to gain entry into US. The reason given by Tom Hanks isnt too convincing and so at the end the film falls flat.

Similar theme was hugely successful in the Bollywood film 'Munnabhai M.B.B.S' which shows the triumph of human spirit over conventions and rules.

Spielberg doesnt measure upto his standards in this film.

    A Lovely Film

Looking for something different? A gentle, relaxing, but very entertaining film that you can safely watch with all the family (the younger ones might be bored). If you think the story is far-fetched, a similar thing actually happened to a man a few years ago. Boost your happiness: watch this film.
