One of producer Roger Corman's countless imitations of Alien, this particular effort is no better and no worse than usual — which still means it's pretty terrible. The futuristic setting is not a spaceship, but an underground lab, where Andrew Stevens and George Kennedy are among the few survivors of a holocaust that has left the planet virtually uninhabitable. Trouble arrives when a pregnant woman gives birth to a monster. The rubber-suited mutant is an embarrassment to watch, but looks good compared to the set design that seems to recycle the same hallway and room for all parts of the underground complex. It's not just the formula that is tired here, but the way everything, from the fighting to the running around, is done.

    LOW budget but watchable

The follow up film 'The Terror Within 2' is also on this 1 disc which was a pleasant surprise, Andrew stevens stars in both films and also wrote and directed the second, the first was produced by master of low budget Roger Corman. Both films are low budget and follow the same type of storyline ie post apocalypse future where 95% of population are dead, the few survivors are hunted by gargoyle-like mutated creatures who want to impregnate the women, notable actors are George Kennedy in the first film and R Lee Ermey in the second, i thought the second film was slightly better, it seems to have had a bigger budget. Considering the budget restrictions these are quite good and you also get 2 films on 1 disc. If you like Corman type films you should rent this.
