    [Highly rated reviewer]

The cannibalistic family are on the road with their own mobile cooking van - perfect for making chilli! Dennis Hopper is the Texas sheriff hunting them down and Caroline Williams is the unfortunate female caught in the middle of it all, as well as caught in the sights of Leatherface - although it doesn't look as if he wants to slice and dice her....

This film is great on so many levels. it doesn't allow itself to get too serious, but at the same time tries hard to develop the psychotic families personalities even more. You will see more to Leatherface in thios film than any other.

The highlight of the whole film is the ridiculously cool chainsaw duel, with Dennis Hopper battling Leatherface head to head at the family dinner table in a junkyard, parrying and jabbing like you would expect in a sword fight.

Don't expect to take this film seriously, and if you loved the way the first film left you leaving you in the dark about the family, then this film may not be the best for you...

Let me be clear I didn't like this film that much but I don't think it was terrible. I kind of surprised it didn't kill the franchise and some of the careers with it. While the first film was a bit of and indie horror with outdoor locations, and a real home dressed up to give a genuine sense of unease at the sight of its decor, the sequel is clearly a studio piece. It starts out well enough, but quickly loses any chills with the new look villains. Leatherface at first sight was a monster now he's a just a weirdo.

  • Funnier than most comedies out at the moment..

Moving from downright horror to the over the top lunacy that can only be viewed late at night after 10 pints of lager...

How can a film that hit all the right notes of terror and realism in the first one suddenly jump to a doomed Romeo & Juliet love story between Leatherface and one of his victims in the second?

Did they do audience tests and this is what they were told was the way forward?

Everything that made the first installment the film it was, the realism of the horror and how it made you feel that this could happen has been stripped from this film for over the top bravado that doesn't scare but irritate like a baby crying for 5 hours on a 6 hour flight.

You can see what the director was trying to do, but it just isn't scary and turns out to be downright silly. Especially when Dennis Hopper decides to buy 3 chainsaws and take the fight to their level.

In the end, the film just gets boring and I found myself drifting off to other pursuits with 20 minutes left..quite a feat since I was 10 lagers to the good with a bellyfull of kebab.

Anyway, if you want a laugh, get this film as it's funnier than most of the new comedies coming into the market. If you want horror, get 'Wolf Creek' instead because that did chill me to the bone. Why, because of the realism in the horror.

What a dissapointment!!!!!!!! I love horror films, the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre was a classic film, dark and disturbing. But this one is a joke, no new ideas, bad acting, crap. Such a shame as the original cast were in this and it could have been a great follow up.

If you liked the original don't watch this, it'll ruin it for you.
