For all those people who loved Band of Brothers and were sorely disappointed by the series Pacific, this is all you need to watch to improve on it. In fact tell your friends to watch this before wasting their time on the Pacific.
The Thin Red Line tells the same story, more or less, in 2 hours instead of 10, and does it with much more excitement and drama without losing the truth of history to Hollywood; not that the Pacific did, it was just really really boring.
