French director Francis Veber made his Hollywood debut with this enjoyable remake of his own 1986 odd-couple farce, Les Fugitifs. Nick Nolte and Martin Short were not destined to become one of the great comic double acts, but Nolte does well enough as the armed robber out on parole and Short gets plenty of slapstick laughs as the incompetent bank robber who drags the unwilling Nolte into his bungled caper. The action gets off to a good start, and, despite sentimental moments, keeps up a fair pace, with a healthy ration of amusements en route.

    Short and Nolte together

Why does Martin Short always play the same role? Is he really a clutz in real life and thats why he is always falling over or breaking stuff in films? Anyway this is a funny film, with tough guy Nick Nolte playing the straight man to Short's funny guy.

There are some touching moments involving the relationship that develops between Short, his 6 year old daughter who hasnt spoken in 3 years and Nolte.
