Take two mega-movie stars - in this case Angelina Jolie and Johnny Depp - and what do you get? Something altogether underwhelming in this case...

AVOID, AVOID, AVOIDBy e_l (8 reviews) from England , 24 Apr 2011
[Highly rated reviewer]What a terrible film! The plot is so old fashioned and full of male-centric chauvinism, that it lead me to look online after watching it, to see if it is based on Bond-era stereotypes from the 1950s. However it wasn't, and Bond it isn't, as this tale of espionage lacks both humour and a clever plot.
It has been named the worst film of 2010 by several sources; wish I had looked into this beforehand! It has also been said by the director that it does indeed contain humour, but I think this humour was accidental, and ONLY declared in an attempt to redeem the shoddy script; it doesn't.
It baffled me how two good actors ever agreed to 'star' in this terrible remake, although I imagine money had a lot to do with it. Seriously - avoid

Breathtaking SceneryBy Daisy12 (14 reviews) , 09 Jun 2013Although others do not seem to rate this film highly, I thoroughly enjoyed it. Yes, the plot is a little lacking, but it is well acted with Berkoff as the villain (can't go wrong) and the locations and costumes are so beautiful. There isn't extreme passion between the two leads, but I read this as them both being quite reserved characters and didn't find this off putting. I would watch it again.
The Two Worst (Tourist) performances by big starsBy JHBErrol (13 reviews) , 04 Jun 2013A jolly tale but flimsy plot. A nice film to fall asleep to if you really don't want to concentrate on what you're doing.
Obvious TwistBy BROOKSWASHERE (4 reviews) , 01 Jun 2013
THIS REVIEW CONTAINS SPOILERS Show review anywayHideIt's like the producers think their audience must be thick. Unrealistic scenes added to the no effort story. If anyone was surprised at the end, it would only be that this film could be so obvious. Worst film in ages.
A Reasonable WasteBy Ivorwa (19 reviews) from LYTHAM ST. ANNES , 27 May 2013This was on Film 4 so I cancelled my rental - a good thing too. Whist this wasn't the awful waste of time mentioned by some - the majority - here,it was largely predictable - especially the obvious twist at the end signposted some time before. The main characters were indeed somewhat wooden, perhaps it was the requirement to be British by Ms Jolie. I didn't find the two main characters engaging in any way and they both looked ill at ease. None of the supporting cast looked as though they really believed the plot lines though slightly more at ease with their direction. Altogether a visually tour de force of Vienna and a mildly entertaining plot make this a reasonable waste of time
The Angelina Show...Yawn!By a customer , 30 Mar 2013Rather silly movie although perfect if you have a crush on Angelina Jolie. It consists mainly of her dressed in different figure hugging outfits and sexy looks to everyone who looks at her. No chemistry between Jolie and Depp so makes for a rather unconvincing romantic tale. Lovely location though.
