Ex-Special Forces operator Frank Martin lives what seems to be a quiet life along the French Mediterranean, hiring himself out as a mercenary "transporter" who moves goods--human or otherwise--from one place to another. No questions asked. Carrying out mysterious and sometimes dangerous tasks in his tricked-out BMW, Frank adheres to a strict set of rules, which he never breaks. Rule One: Never change the deal. Rule Two: No names--Frank doesn't want to know whom he's working for, or what he's transporting. Rule Three: never look in the package.

Lock, Stock's Jason Statham plays second fiddle to a battery of special effects in this brainless high voltage action thriller. He plays the cool criminal driver who's paid to transport cargo — human, or otherwise — with no questions asked. When he violates his code by looking in one of the packages and discovers a Chinese girl (Qi Shu), he's forced to go on the run from his employers and the police. Amid all the posturing macho extravagance (car chases, mega-explosive stunt work), there's also a bizarre oil wrestling sequence, and one extraordinary moment where Statham kisses his enemy underwater to steal his breath! Clearly, action is all that counts here and the plot (something about Chinese immigrants and the slave trade) seems the last thing on director Corey Yuen's mind.
Routine action movie that delivers the expected car chases and punch ups with commendable slickness but not much else.
Jason Statham is a God. Well, in this he is. He starts of with a really dodgy accent but does seem to lose it throughout the film.
He's a hired gin who does driving jobs for a hefty fee. For his services he'll use his superb driving skills to get his paying customers out of a jam. He asks no questions and needs precise instruction in order to perfectly time his getaways. His number one rule is to never ask questions. One day he takes a job from a sleazy and shady man named Betancourt. Instead of delivering the goods, he breaks his number one rule and peeks inside the package...
This movie is pure action having all the usual clichés: car chasing, explosions, fights when nobody uses guns, the lead actor gets some kind of involvement with the victim etc. But the choreography is excellent and the action scenes are great.
Jason Statham puts in a 'Jackie Chan-esque' performance in this action-thriller with exciting and highly original fight-scenes superbly choreographed by Corey Yuen.
'The Transporter' is 'white-van man' meets 'Grant Mitchell' meets 'Bruce Lee', and keeps your attention throughout, mixing chase and fight sequences, with picturesque locations in France.
Jason Statham has a wealth of talents being an ex-olympic diver, kick-boxer, and, most importantly, the lucky man who wakes up next to Kelly Brook. This performance should make him hot-property in Hollywood as the new Van-Damme.
This film should have done much better at the box-office and hopefully it's growing DVD fan-base would make a 'Transporter 2' a much bigger hit.
No question, this has to be on your wish-list.
Movie tough-guy Jason Statham was left red-faced filming a sex scene in a shopping mall - his fellow actors took photos of his bare buttocks. The Transporter actor had to strip for a saucy scene in front of dozens of extras playing passers-by. But the star was in for an embarrassing surprise - when the bit-part actors decided to capture the moment on their cell phones. Statham tells Ocean Drive magazine, "Trying to do an aggressive sex scene is quite difficult. Especially in a public place... Read more
