Rubber Man Shows he can act!!By DoubleD from London , 28 Nov 2003
[Highly rated reviewer]If like me you find Rubber-Faced comedian Jim Carey's films such as "Liar Liar", "Dumb and Dumber" and "Ace Ventura" childish and dull once the first face-pulling gag is complete, then this could well be a welcome treat for you. Under the current climate of reality tv shows, the story of The Truman Show is quite poignant.
Truman (Jim Carey) is living his happy life in his happy town and his happy job, blissfully unaware that he is fact the soul star of his very own reality tv series - The Truman Show. The film explores the emotions of a man who becomes aware of the situation he is in as he begins to understand his surroundings due to a series of strange incidents.
Jim Carey is completely convincing as Truman and for once does not have a film based around his ability to pull faces!! I was surprised myself, but having watched the film I must admit that Jim Carey is indeed a very talented actor. It is difficult not to feel the frightened emotions of a man who is only just becoming aware of his true existance.
The story is funny, slick and well put together, but it is the performance of Jim Carey that makes it stand out and does truly effect the viewer. After the film, imagine yourself as Truman and think "What would that really be like?".
A must see for all viewers with an imagination.

Truman Show.By Cornetto (959 reviews) from Lancaster , 05 May 2007Truman Burbank (Carrey) has grown up on television, with the honour of being the first child to be formally adopted by a corporation, Truman has had every moment of his existence captured by television cameras. The Truman Show, a worldwide reality series that runs twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week, and every day of the year, has been witness to his first words, Truman is unaware of this, everything appears to be real life. Comedy with Jim Carrey being hugely funny, acting great.

old classicBy a customer from kent , 24 Mar 2007is your life being watched by a movie crew! no! are you sure?
ExcellentBy a customer from Liverpool, England , 22 Nov 2006One of those films that takes a slightly farcical take on the TV watching habits of the first world. One of the few Jim Carrey films that I can watch twice. It's up there with Groundhog Day, but not quite as illuminating.
A great film to watch!!By a customer from midlands , 13 Nov 2006A film that could be a future reality show? It is funny, but also quite sad as the main charature has never experienced anything outside of the TV set and therefore has no idea of what the real world is like. He has never had any proper friends, they are all made for him and he has never had any real family as he is adopted.
