[Highly rated reviewer]I love costume dramas, I love history, I love literature, good writing and acting, but if you love any of these - avoid this series. I wanted to enjoy it, and can overlook a lot if the writing or the performances are good, but this is just dreadful on all fronts. Watch "Cranford" instead which is a delight. The writing/script for the Tudors is puerile. Think of how an adolescent boy's fantasy of being Henry VIII might be like and this is it. Women drop their drawers and strip off every five minutes to get a jolly good rodgering by Henry. Between these episodes you get a bit of history over simplified and over explained for the uneducated morons the writer assumes us to be. The only enjoyment is to be astounded at the ludicrous dialogue and the hammy cardboard performances. What utter utter rubbish, what a disappointment. I'm just surprised they didn't cast Posh as Anne Boleyn!

THE TUDORS SERIES 1+2By MOOSNAN (6 reviews) from BRIGG , 20 Nov 2009GREAT STORY,LIKED IT.
BUT I ADMIT TO BEING A HISTORY BUFF SO HATE IT WHEN THEY DO AN HISTORICAL DRAMA AND GET THE FACTS WRONG.
HENRY'S SISTER WHO MARRIED CHARLES BRANDON WAS MARY ROSE AND SHE FIRST MARRIED CHARLES VII OF FRANCE NOT THE KING OF PORTUGAL.
MARGARET MARRIED KING JAMES IV OF SCOTLAND.
HENRY'S ILLEGITIMATE SON DIED WHEN HE WAS A TEENAGER.
THESE ARE JUST SOME OF THE MANGLING OF HISTORY IN THIS SERIES.

The Tudors Series 1By Laurajf84 (10 reviews) from Ellesmere Port , 16 Aug 2009I don't know if it is just me but I'm not sure about Jonathan Rhys Meyers playing Henry viii. I feel that he over acts too much for the role. He also doesn't look like the Henry viii we know from history, unlike Ray Winstone of the drama Henry viii. Although I do find that Maria Doyle Kennedy is great as Catherine of Aragon! I will finish off the series before making any more judgment on it. As I may grow to like Jonathan Rhys Meyers as Henry viii.
The Tudors - Season TwoBy JaneP (4 reviews) from London , 05 Jun 2009
THIS REVIEW CONTAINS SPOILERS Show review anywayHide...I couldn't wait to watch season two after the pomp and circumstance of season one gripped my imagination. Season two - though the outcome is inevitable and the subject more serious and tragic, was better than the first season. The character development in Henry and Anne as well as those around them made me want to know more, invest more in watching their lives unfold. Even though in the end it is not a happily ever after for Anne you can't simply believe that Henry can get more demanding and demented. But he does...and you can't wait to see more...bring on Season Three!
