The Versace Murder

Director Menahem Golan
Genres Drama
Run time 90 mins Certificate 18

2nd November 2007

According to the internet, all the events in this film are true, so as far as the 'based on a true story' goes - full marks. Also, Versace's sexuality is not brushed under the Hollywood carpet - full marks again there. However, what should've been an exciting 'docu-drama' suffers under writer/director Menahem Golan's laughable script and stilted direction. Throw in some excrutiatingly bad acting from Shane Perdue as Cunanan, the man responsible for Versace's death, and Steven Bauer as the FBI agent pursuing him, and the result is barely watchable. Franco Nero has little to do as Versace, apart from pout and mope - and die.
