Good gritty British drama with a brilliant rampaging end.

Lots of action and very little else. A film for the men only - just worth watching. Sit down with a few beers.

Half way through I was thinking this was one of the best British flicks I've ever seen. A few twists with a rampaging finish that left me thinking that was really good but that it had promised more. This is almost 2 films in 1 and certainly worth a watch.

This is a strange little film. I don't know why a veteran would come back to a flat that was stuck in 1973 decor, but that's what happens. It's a slow burner, this one, with the local gang making everyone's life a misery as a background subplot, while our veteran is recruited by MI5 and then the story starts. It will take a few viewings this will, because the main story isn't laboured as in American films. It's not a heroic film either as the action is wholly believable and the vet is no superman. The end came as a surprise - well, not really, but I was expecting more satisfaction out of the main plot. There's a nice action sequence at the end, which should leave you thinking a bit more about the whole story. So why just 3 1/2 stars? Well, as I said, the main plot is a little hard to follow and there's a frustration in the film I just couldn't shake. I did end up buying the film though, because, as I said, I think it bears repeat viewing to get the best out of it. In general, I would give it a thumbs up, but don't expect Die Hard, Bond or Bourne.

  • Good film.... Could have been great though.

Good film, with good, believable performances especially from the lead who was brilliant throughout. The plot line involving a greater conspiracy, I felt was not made clear enough and a certain amount of supposition was needed. But having said that its a film that certainly keeps your attention right up until the brutal end, and perhaps one of the most realistic gunfights I've ever seen on film!!
