Lovely film, Watch with someone you love

I watched this beautiful and sensitive film in the cinema, and enjoyed tremendously. The story is of young people in London, looking for love and finding it. It is a touching story, about love, compassion and joy, well acted and beautifully filmed. It will leave a smile on your face, I recommend it heartily.

    a wonderful, romantic film

My girlfriend wanted to see “Sex in the city”, but (luckily) the tickets were sold out – so we saw this little British film we know nothing about and decided to see it on the spur of the moment. What a luck we had! It is definitely the most romantic movie i have seen in a long time. If you ever fell in love at first sight with someone you meet on a train go and see this movie. You won’t regret it. Highly recommended viewings for those early dates and more...

    A Find!`

This highly watchable film is character based and character motivated, and works so well because all the main characters are so skilfully written and excellently acted. It depicts the characters at a vulnerable and complicated stage in their relationships with each other, and follows them through to decisions which will affect the rest of their lives. Perhaps the ending may seem a little contrived, but it is an ending which is satisfying and desired by all but the most miserable of viewers. A most interesting and involving film, and well worth seeing.

    The archetypal three star drama

Slight but quite enjoyable. A little ponderous. If you live, like us, in Wandsworth, SW London, where it was filmed, you will enjoy the loving treatment of the neighbourhood in the cinematography. We could have lived without seeing Ralph Little's willy.

    Low Key but never anonymous

    The Waiting Room

A truly dreadful film, indulgent, mannered, dire acting: unbelievable tosh.

    Typical Brit flick

Typical Brit flick, really. Some decent acting and the occasional insightful observation, but let down by an underbaked script that ambles along to a painfully predictable conclusion. As with so many British films, this feels like a half hour TV drama fleshed out to cinematic status. Most memorable scene involves Ralf Little, stretching himself as an aimless loser who, for reasons never fully explained, captures the heart of the leading female character. In a genius piece of 'character development', Little arrives home from work and starts doing Ravey Davey Gravy dancing - memorable for all the wrong reasons. The director also thinks it's a good idea to show him walking around stark naked, not once but twice. Perhaps there are people who think that bloke from The Royle Family is a sex god, but for me it ranks as some of the most disturbing slices of celluloid this side of Baise Moi.

    WELL WORTH THE WAIT!

An astonishingly simple, yet engaging look at love, life and relationships. Beautifully crafted and excellently acted by all. Duff has always been excellent on the (all too few) occasions I have seen her. Her and James McEvoy were the backbone of 'Shameless', which died on it's arse once they left. A quality British film. Spread the word!

    Beats Richard Curtis hands down!

This is everything that a British romantic comedy should be: amusing, emotive and ultimately honest. If you feel that a good film is not just about entertainment but also about cultural representation then this beats Richard Curtis' picture postcard/chocalate box veiw of British life. There is no sub-standard Christmas cracker jokes, no use of profanity for the sake of cheap laughs and no whimsical (mis)representations or cultural sterotypes. This is an honest yet loving portrait of the obstacles and short-comings inherent in all adult relationships - beautifully performed by its wonderfully naturalistic cast including Ann-Marie Duff and Ralf Little - which deals with heartache, frustration and most importantly the hope of complete happiness. If you enjoyed the television series Love Soup then this is definitely worth you checking out.
