Survival Horror Series
By Dragilex (138 reviews) from Manchester , 02 Jan 2011[Highly rated reviewer]
There are countless zombie survival horror films out there, there has even been a resurgence recently. But this is the first tv series that has had a stab at the genre. Based on a graphic novel of the same name, Frank Darabont (of Shawshank Redemption fame) has brought this to the screen.
My first thought was can a zombie survival horror be made episodically, will there be enough material. Upon watching the first episode and the brutal first scene, things lapsed into 28 Days Later territory, man wakes in hospital, everything has gone to poop (I have since been informed, the graphic novel predates 28 Days). The series continues on as the main character Rick Grimes (of This Life and Teachers fame pulling an impressive American accent) encounters other survivors and events unfold.
The series is short to make up for the obvious lack of material you can get from this kind of setup but the material is good and well delivered. If you like zombies you should like this, plenty of gore soaked action to keep you entertained. There is also some good relationship drama in there. The Walking Dead is good but I wasn't shouting from the rooftops about it. However I do feel that if season 2 continues in the same way things will get better.

Fantastic and addictive viewing a guilty pleasure
By jennyfromtheblock (32 reviews) from Manchester , 30 Apr 2013Myself and 2 daughters found the TV series on too late for us as we are all up at 6:00 in the morning so could not wait for this to come out on DVD, We were not disappointed. Whilst you get the guts and gore that comes with zombie films the story lines and relationships that entwine the survival group make for the group interesting to watch and see develop. The characters are believable and not over the top. once we had watched season 1 we were all chomping at the bit ( pardon the pun ) for season 2 and all i can say is it was well worth the wait, we had a walking dead dvd day were we watched them all back to back cant wait for the next season do your self a favour and have a afternoon of guilty pleasur- Was this review helpful to you?

Good series with zombies.
By Camby (6 reviews) , 22 Apr 2013I didn't know what to make of this as I had grown tired of countless zombie films. However I gave it a chance and was pleasantly surprised. The TV series format works well, its not perfect (some episodes are weaker than others) but its very enjoyable with lots of characters you can hate and love in equal measure. Recommended.- Was this review helpful to you?

disapointing and over hyped
By a customer , 20 Apr 2013i think i have watched a different series to the 5* ratings. the storylines were extremely predictable and it doesn't even start to have a real story up until th 4th episode. this was made out to be some amazing out of the box peice of artwork but it is so disapointing its uunreal at somepoints in it they go from from zombieland realistic to stuff that wouldnt even be beleivable in star trek.- Was this review helpful to you?
