    Saw it Live

Please note I am commenting on the LIVE SHOW! Not the DVD.

However it may be of use if you are thinking of having a look.

Based on the Jeff Wayne sound recording done in the 70s, and directed and conducted by him, this show was incredible. A combination of stage show, orchestra, cinematics and animatronics. The technology behind it was amazing. There was a giant 40 foot animated martian that kept zapping the audience with its heat ray, a 12 ft Richard Burton computer animated head and a hundred foot cinema screen fed by 8 projectors (i think) showing cgi and live action footage in the background. The cast included Russel Watson as the preacher, and Justin Hayward Reprised his songs from the Album.

The best show I have seen in many years.

    class

while the DVD extras for the most part did not hold my attention and i thought once or twice that the various singers were not singing live.

this is still worth a rental as the music has not dated and sounds as good now (if not better through 5.1) as it did back in the day.

the light show could have been better (with the alien machine looking like it needed a bigger stage) and would probably have been deserving of a top mark from me, if it were not for the fact that i had recently seen The Floyd's Pulse DVD's.

all in all, great music with nice visuals
