  • Underrated gem!

    [Highly rated reviewer]

Written and directed by Usual Suspects scribe, Christopher McQuarrie, 'Way of the Gun' is a little known gem of the crime genre. Complex and intelligent, the films unflinching portrayl of its unsympathetic protagonists draws parrallels with 'The Wild Bunch. Del Toro is, as always, outstanding, and fellow cast members James Caan, Ryan Phillipe, et al, hold their own admirably in this hard hitting picture.

  • TOTAL TRIPE

put together for money by people filling in their time until something better came along - featureless, banal, unoriginal - totally meaningless unless you were one of the 'stars' who got paid...tripe

  • Oh Dear...

It's an OK film with a good twist at the end but blimey...! Every scene has a gunfight, which, amusingly given the title, I wasn't expecting at all. Devalues the story for me but it's otherwise well acted with a good plot

  • Multi-layered or just a mess?

Very unsatisfying movie, over-complex and confusing with a final shootout reminiscent of 'Gunfight at the OK Corral'. With so much shooting going on, it's quite a feat to become bored, but I managed it without any difficulty whatsoever.

I felt the director lost control of the complexities of the story.

Some good acting though, which is how I came up with 3 stars.

  • Entertaing watch

It wanders all over the place with some very funny scenes and very loud bullet noises, but peters out rather than comes together, losing the veiwers before the final shoot-out.

    Worth the watch.

  • Grossly underrated

This film probably has the best opening sequence of any film, I just love it. The storyline is great and the acting brilliant too. This film doesnt appear very popular but it should be, I thought it was excellent although not for all due to its violent nature!!
