Jennifer Lopez is Mary, a peppy career woman who is great at what she does: she can turn any wedding into the perfect romantic event. Incurably single, she feels she's hit the jackpot when a chance encounter introduces her to Steve (Matthew McConaughey), a doctor. What she doesn't know--and what Steve doesn't reveal--is that he is soon to marry Fran (Bridgette Wilson-Sampras), one of her high-powered clients. As the attraction between Mary and Steve grows stronger, they are thrust into a series of comically unpleasant situations which force them to confront their feelings for one another. Custom-built for Lopez's undeniable star power, THE WEDDING PLANNER is an easygoing crowd pleaser.

Jennifer Lopez strays into Julia Roberts territory here with another romantic comedy that explores the rocky road to matrimony and true love. Lopez plays a wedding organiser whose father seems intent on marrying her off to a childhood friend and who spends her free time playing Scrabble. Charged with arranging the nuptials for wealthy Bridgette Wilson-Sampras, Lopez commits the cardinal sin of falling for the groom-to-be, Matthew McConaughey. The star makes a slightly implausible spinster, in her stunning Gucci wardrobe and all-weather lip gloss. McConaughey is far more believable as the doctor who saves her from a nasty accident, falls in love, and then faces a dilemma about which woman to dump. A box-office hit in America, this debut feature from director Adam Shankman is perfect if you're looking for a traditional date movie.
This would-be sophisticated romantic quickly loses its way after requiring the hero to behave badly; its stars strike no sparks off each other and become mired in the contrivances of a feeble script.
If you enjoyed Pretty Woman, you'll like this love story. Predictable right from the start, but a nice feel good film - probably better suited to the uncurable romantics among us. Jennifer Lopez repeats her Maid in Mahatten role, but this time as the titled Wedding Planner - a super organised, control freak, unlucky in love, beautiful professional thrown (literally) off her feet by the gorgeous Matthew McConaughey. Don't have your brain turned on when you sit down to watch this one, but just enjoy it for what it is - a nice love story.
Romantic comedy about a super efficient successful wedding planner who lives rather a lonely mundane life until she bumps into the fiance of her latest client. She doesn't realise at first who he is and starts fo fall for him, which leads to all sorts of complications as the feeling is mutual. I liked the film but thought it lost momentum towards the rather predictable ending.
The movie of the Broadway show of the movie 'Ah, the circle of life! Once upon a time little John Waters was condemned to the cult midnight movie circuit for cheapo bad taste extravaganzas like Multiple Maniacs , Pink Flamingos, and Desperate Living. Gradually, though, something shifted. It wasn't so much that Waters sold out, more that the mainstream came to meet him halfway, which is more or less what transpired when he wrote and directed the original version of Hairspray in 1988.
