The complete sixth series of the acclaimed political drama. Rejoin the Bartlet administration in the aftermath of the Gaza Strip attack that seriously wounded Donna (Janel Moloney) and killed several others and finds President Bartlet (Martin Sheen) facing strong opposition to his peace plans. Defying the wishes of the majority of Congress - including some of the White House's democratic allies - the American people and the Vice President, Bartlet persists in the hope that inviting Palestinian and Israeli leaders to participate in peace talks will forestall the necessity of a U.S. military retaliation. Even Leo (John Spencer) feels that the President should order an attack to make a decisive statement on terrorism. Adding to the stresses of the peace negotiations, magicians Penn and Teller cause controversy at the White House when they burn the American flag as part of their act celebrating Bartlet's birthday. An asteroid hurtles towards Earth and a leak of oxygen on the International Space Station requires a controversial rescue mission and Bartlet is stricken by a paralysing episode of his multiple sclerosis. Many said that The West Wing had past its best when Rob Lowe and Aaron Sorkin departed, nonsense!

The turnover of characters breathes new life into the programme. One of America’s best actors, Alan Alda features as Republican candidate Vinick, while heartthrob Jimmy Smits plays his rival Santos. The West Wing scores high because it assumes an intelligent audience instead of spoon feeding or patronising. Don’t just take my word for it. Click on now.

Just pure brillance

For a US ongoing drama running for 7 seasons with up to 150 episodes, its sure is addictive not too say that I don't believe anything else will come close! Bring back the team for a special one off!

West Wing predicted elections

So enjoyed the entire series that I bought it - though have yet to watch the last few. It taught me how to understand US election process and kind of predicted the Obama election process at least up to nomination stage - have not watched to see the final outcome

What can i say about this, multi award winning series, that hasn't already been said...... It gets better as it goes on. As they hit season 5, things start to radically change, and you wonder how they can keep it going in the same vain....the same happens with this season. it just goes to show how good the actors and script writers are/were.

Some of the politics may start to get a bit confusing, in this season, but stay with it. All is eventually explained and it's well worth the wait. You get the general idea you know where the story lines are going and your usually right, but they always manage to 'put you on the back foot' at the end, in some way. I cant wait to see where they go with season 7.
