Most helpful review
Excellent
By Wolfgang from Fulham , 21 Apr 2004[Highly rated reviewer]
Although not a great hit in the box office or particularly critically well acclaimed, this film is histerically funny and with a twist. Full of stereotypes portrayed very comically, a great mix of characters that all fit in together very well. Great acting from Willis and Perry.
By the way, the whiole nine yards was an American World War II expression used for a plane that returned from combat having shot all its bullets; it had gone the whole nine yards. A bullet belt was nine yards long.- Was this review helpful to you?

Nein, On The Whole.
By Roddenberry (31 reviews) from Bristol , 30 Oct 2012On a bit of a Bruce Willis kick at the moment, so I decided to re-watch this. I love some of the performances in this and we get a range, understated to overblown, dramatic to wacky and therein lies the problem with this film, it's trying to please to many masters and pleasing none fully and the thin premise can't contain all these styles.
This is one of those films in which you'd have to know the person well to recommend it to them and even then, you'd get a 50/50 chance of them enjoying it. It does have it's moments though and is watchable but it's style and thin script will mean this will disappoint some.- Was this review helpful to you?

Noir meets rom-com
By Loopgrinder (109 reviews) , 21 Oct 2012A few twists, a little romance and some belly laughs - this is a good little film. Willis is always better playing likeable bad guy characters and Matthew Perry holds it all together as the bumbling, ordinary guy caught in the cross-fire.
Directed by Jonathan Lynn who was the man behind one of the funniest/cheesiest comedies of the nineties, My Cousin Vinny (and more surprisingly as one half of the writing team on the Yes Minister political sit-com!)
Good supporting roles from both Amanda Peet and the sadly deceased Michael Clarke Duncan of Green Mile fame.- Was this review helpful to you?

Captivating fun
By a customer , 30 Jun 2012For the day when film has to be escapism from the tedium of life this works well. There is nothing deep, complex or serious, just enteraintainment.- Was this review helpful to you?
