Madagascar 2 ? BarelyBy zander47 from Surrey , 29 May 2006
[Highly rated reviewer]It was always going to seem derivative.
Random collection of animals leave New York Zoo for a trip to "The Wild". OK, it wasn't Madagascar (wrong side of Africa), but it was similar. Except it was lacking life, pace and the jokes for both adult and children alike which characterised Madagascar.
Saving graces? The little ones liked it, even if the Indian pigeons weren't understood, and Eddie Izzard's ever so camp koala stole the show.
They're making a sequel to Madagascar. I doubt they will make a sequel to this film.

Wildly tiresomeBy a customer , 06 Mar 2012Pretty weak, one of the few recent animated rentals I nearly didn't bother watching to the end, predictable and probably best reserved for trying to make very young children sleepy. relies very heavily on the 'famous' voices, storyline is a bit runabout and not really believable, something like Bolt is much better.
A sweet movie, but unfortunately it has been done beforeBy sdfilm (125 reviews) from Oxon , 28 Feb 2012Madagascar anyone??
What an earth were disney thinking? They have bascially just copied the idea and made it worse. Animals making their way to the wild was far fetched enough the first time round, so to copy that idea seems ridiculous. The voice talents in this aren't as good as Madagascar and they don't have the hilarious penguins. I tried to view this without thinking of the other movie but it is really hard to do as the story is pretty much the same give or take a few details. The animation is fantastic - more realistic than Madagascar actually, but this just isn't enough to save it. :(
De Ja VuBy a customer , 03 Feb 2012This film reminded us both so much of Madagascar. We have to be honest when it comes to computer generated films of this kind pixar win hands down. Disney seem to be lagging behind like a snail!!!
Lion King meets MadagascarBy Gavlovesfilm (49 reviews) from Nottingham , 27 Sep 2011Lion King meets Madagascar in one of the few films that Disney made whilst working seperate to Pixar.
On Blu Ray it looks great but lacks the Disney feel good factor if you've seen Lion King. There are no real musical numbers and no real jokes although fans of Eddie Izzard will appreciate his Koala.
Makes you want to watch Lion King again.
I Feel Like I've Seen This Before.........By Shane_Bayliss (2 reviews) from Burton-on-Trent , 01 Jul 2011From the outset it is clear that this 'Disney Classic' is missing the magic required to class it along such greats as The Lion King, Aladdin etc. It is clear that at the point Disney gambled on this movie was in the wake of the highly superior Madagascar. I would not recommend that any true Disney fan put themselves through this. If you want to watch a Disney film stick to a true Classic and not a cheap imitation.
