It was always going to seem derivative.
Random collection of animals leave New York Zoo for a trip to "The Wild". OK, it wasn't Madagascar (wrong side of Africa), but it was similar. Except it was lacking life, pace and the jokes for both adult and children alike which characterised Madagascar.
Saving graces? The little ones liked it, even if the Indian pigeons weren't understood, and Eddie Izzard's ever so camp koala stole the show.
They're making a sequel to Madagascar. I doubt they will make a sequel to this film.
Possibly the funniest film I've seen in a long time. Great graphics, a really engaging storyline and some of the funniest scenes I think I've ever seen... 'Look I'm a starfish'
Kids and Mum & Dad loved this, entertaining good family film.
A good animation film, very much aimed at children but can be enjoyed by adults too.
One to enjoy without having to think or concentrate too much, very light hearted and enjoyable.
Love animated stories...and it is always fun to guess the actors/actresses behind the characters lol.
Similar to Madagascar but have to say not as good.
Story line was good until they got onto the island then it all seemed over far too quick

Madagascar, Nemo, Lion King etc. throw them all together and this is what you get without being half as good . Awesome animation though, and the kids like it.
this was a good film, with morals behind it about telling the truth. i would recommend it to the younger audience.
felt it was quite similar to madagascar. the animation is good, does have some funny bits the koala bear is the best!
watchable from an adults point of view my 4 year old liked it not loved it.
I thought this was a good film, better then Madacaster as it was actually funny in places. Good watch
This was extremely funny and Eddie Izzard as the koala bear from London was hilarious.
Madagasgar meets Lion King, but with less story line than a wilted lettuce leaf.
Could and should have been so much better. Formulaic story (as a storyteller and writer I know what I'm saying!) with formulaic character set. Nice bouncy pace. Nearly a tingly visual contrast with the moments of 'evil ritual' but not developed enough - scared of scaring the kiddies, were we?! - so ends up clunky. Pleasant pap for keeping kids quiet, but not bright ones...
