The Witches of Eastwick, a memorable comedy with a dark edge, is based upon a novel by John Updike. On Thursday nights three female friends -- Alex (Cher), Sukie (Michelle Pfeiffer), and Jane (Susan Sarandon) -- meet to chug martinis, learn Chinese aphrodisiac cooking and lament the scarcity of eligible men. As they sit around, they fantasize about and describe their idea of the ideal male. Arriving in town the following day is Satan, disguised as mysterious stranger Darrell Van Horn (Jack Nicholson). One by one, Van Horne seduces each of the women. Then, strange things begin to happen. When the town matriarch Felicia (Veronica Cartwright) publicly denounces Van Horne, she sustains a nasty compound fracture. When she forces her editor husband to publish a story about Van Horne's sexual antics, Darrell gets his revenge with revoltingly large amounts of cherries. Teriffic movie with a delighful story, some good acting from Nicholson and the girls, and

soem good photography and effects. Highly recommended.

not one of nicholsons best.

an all star cast, but if your a witch fan don't take this seriously.

this film is more hollywood that witchcraft, but its ok i guess

still crazy after all these years

Loved this when I saw it in the cinema in 1987 still love it watching it for free on love film in 2011.

the chemistry and comedy one liners between the witches is great

The movie, that is.

Watch it for Jack.

And for Cher prior enhancements.

3/5 at a stretch, 2.5/5 is fair.

i loved this film, great cast, great storey bit weird towards the end though :/ only downside for me is that i watched the eastwick series before i watched the film so spent half the film working out who was who....but its a brill film all round

23 year's old and still a classic film today. Great acting from all the main four characters played by - Jack Nicholson, Susan Sarandon, Cher and Michelle Pfeiffer. One to keep in your weird, genre collection.
