Glimpse into the Spotless Mind...
By Gonzo Soul from The Thoroughfare, Woodbridge , 17 May 2004[Highly rated reviewer]
After enjoying the Spike Jonze edition in this series I went to check out the Michel Gondry one, especially after seeing 'The Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind'(which is his first foray into a big budget Hollywood feature film).
This DVD charts his music videos, adverts and rare short experimental films and he his style comes across like a gallic Jonze but infused within is a great understanding of music which informs his editing. My particular favourites on this disc is the film which is made up of live drum loops and The Daft Punk video but there are many other little gems on here.
If you liked 'The Eternal etc..' and interested in music video and experimental film check this out.
I'm going to be checking out the Chris Cunningham one next because I like his styles too. Imagine him working with Charlie Kauffman!!! Wow!!! heh heh... peace. gonz- Was this review helpful to you?

If you love music videos.....
By a customer from Kent. , 21 Nov 2005Just wonderful stuff this chap comes out with. If you like Music videos (part of the earlier MTV generation) then this is for you. For me it brings back the feeling i have of music and the visualisations that i feel is slowly in decline (as less money is spent on videos now)
Michel shows that even with cgi around, that you dont have to use it. In fact in some areas (esp white stripes) its closer to ardman:)- Was this review helpful to you?

Genius
By Ned0 from W.Yorks , 15 Sep 2005You know this is going to be good when you see that he's directed Bjork videos [she knows who to work with when it comes to videos] and this collection contains some absolutely stunning work.
Some of the early videos were for music that has dated badly but his work from the last 5 years is absolutely mind-bending.
Some of his short-films are a little bit mad but DAMN what about some of these music videos?!- Was this review helpful to you?

A Dream of a Collection
By RRM1 from Derby , 24 Aug 2005There is more imagination and trickery in this collection of videos than in every Hollywood blockbuster put together!
Most videos are CGI free and are down to clever craftsmanship and ingenuity, as well as a very vivid imagination by Michel Gondry.
My favourites have to be the Chemical Brother's Let forever Be and Massive Attack's Protection videos. Twisted and beautiful, respectively.
And thank goodness his transferral to the big screen has been just as brilliant!
Don't rent this....buy it!!- Was this review helpful to you?
