Micky Rourke is just mesmerizing.
By a customer from Queens Park , 25 Oct 2008[Highly rated reviewer]
A really immersive film, that manages to live the washed out wrestlers life day by agonizing day. I have only felt this level of emotional gutting once before and that was with my first view of 'Requiem for a Dream'. The world feels authentic and sometimes sexy, honoring its source material, in all it's bloody glory.
Mickey Rourke's performance is absolutely incredible and it hurts so much to stare at such a demolished incarnation of him. Marisa Tomei is beautiful and again like with the every other aspect of the film you find yourself just staring in amazement.
The film has a dark sense of humor which surprises you during the lows. You can see the turns ahead but ride is too immersive to let yourself second guess the plot, and your first time will be heart throbbing and unnerving.- Was this review helpful to you?

(588)Hard Hitter
By a customer , 28 Aug 2012Hard hitting. Well crafted if a bit gruesome. Not for the faint hearted. It was an obvious ending that we all knew. O' Rouke played a very good part.- Was this review helpful to you?

Quite brilliant performance from mickey rourke. Gritty,Determined and realistic
By Mr_Jamez (1 review) , 15 Jul 2012Mickey rourke plays this role to perfection, he gives the grit, determination, Raw and quite rightly one of his best performances. if your a fan of the live life the hard way and everything goes wrong but you still manage to solider through all the adversity this is the film for you. Brilliant story and quite frankly a satisfying watch. And no spoiler but the end is quite fitting.- Was this review helpful to you?

Enjoyable and compelling.
By Bobharrington (1 review) , 07 Jun 2012I enjoyed the film, it is more of a character drama than a linear story where something particular happens, well acted and compelling.- Was this review helpful to you?
