This is, of course, a classic of the science fiction genre - my only disappointment is that the version on offer is not the (purportedly) all singing all dancing special edition, but the bog standard version released a few weeks earlier. The warning lights went on when the disclaimer for poor image quality due to age of film flashed up on screen - so no loving reconstruction here. Having said this, the image quality is OK and lots better than the awful NTSC version I've seen. As often seems to be the case (ie Thief of Bagdad) the image shown on the site is not that of the disc that drops through the letter box. I suppose this is only a problem if you want to own the movie - I'm rushing down to the shops to check out the special edition. 5 stars for the movie - 3 for the DVD.
Whilst the disc details say this is the 119 minute version of 'Things to Come' I was disappointed when what I received finished in half an hour less than this. I am now wondering if easycinema sent me the right version (for a 92 minute version was released in Britain). Certainly this has a chopped up feel and is something rather less than the film I saw years ago. Incidentally, this version of 'Things to Come' is in the public domain and can be watched for free on the internet! Doh!
