this film was a load of rubbish a complete waste of time.
I watched this first with two of my kids and next day with my partner. We all enjoyed it and I didn't find it hard to watch the film two days in a row. Not many films I could say that about. I thought the acting was great if a little over-acted in places; some great observation and good camera work. It's violent in places and a bit disturbing but not without cause - thought provoking but not subtle! Not as good as Dead Man's Shoes but it's in my Top Ten for the last 12 months.
Father figures, mentors, men and boys, these are relationships that crop up in all five of Shane Meadows' films, and most often they are central.
