They don't make 'em like this anymore
By Matti White from London, UK , 06 Mar 2006[Highly rated reviewer]
As I was only about 14 when 'This Life' was first broadcast, I wasn't really old enough to 'get it'... So finally getting to see it on DVD means I can watch it from a new perspective.
'This Life' is a brilliantly scripted British drama - the situations are believable, and it's spiced up with just enough witty one liners and comedic moments to keep it 'peppy' without becoming rediculous. The real plus point , however, are the characters - they are fully rounded, '3-dimensional' people who the viewer can really connect with - an element missing in so many modern drama series. This focus on characters also gives the show a 'timeless' quality, although, some of the jump-cut editing and camera angles give a clue to the show's '90s origins, although not enough, in my opinion, to spoil it for 'new' viewers.- Was this review helpful to you?

(13)What a series
By a customer , 22 Apr 2011I first watched most of this series back in the '90,s having missed a few early episodes. Regarding the BBC it was one of it's best for the decade.I loved the way it was produced technically with close-up and whippan camera angles.
The characters were true to life even for today.Everything about it was great. Why don't they produce more like this?- Was this review helpful to you?

Not So Good
By theowldyin (1 review) from Elgin , 15 May 2010The first series seemed OK, setting the scene, as it were. This follow on series is spoiled by emphasising homosexual relations and is too graphic. Couldn't watch any more. Pity.- Was this review helpful to you?

Love Egg
By a customer from London , 30 May 2009I had never seen This Life and a friend recommended it to me as I loved the first few series of Teachers.
I found this series to be hilarious, heartfelt and a lot of good fun. Well done to everyone involved!

Still worth a look
By a customer from W.Midlands , 18 Nov 2008Watched series 1 and enjoyed it. Didn't think I'd like series 2 as much but pleasantly surprised and still interested - another 5 discs to go...- Was this review helpful to you?

This is the life. Superb
By steven wilkins from Brighton , 14 May 2007This Life is a story of a group of 20-somethings living in a shared house in London.
You get to know the characters of 'This Life' so intimately, at work and at home, you cannot help but get involved. You will gain a great insight and understanding of how each character is wired. You will also no doubt develop favourites but each character is so individual and plays there part.
Funny, emotional, shocking and real. One of the best T.V Series' to ever hit our screens.
Even 10 years on this is still superb, and makes me miss living in a shared household. Great performances all round from a great cast and its very cleverly shot to add realism.
Rent or buy This Life. It's a must-see, again and again!
The only downside to such a brilliant programme is that there is only 2 series of it.- Was this review helpful to you?
