    Originally conceived as a vehicle for Chevy Chase, Steve Martin and John Belushi, this enjoyably indulgent comedy hit the big screen with another Saturday Night Live regular, Martin Short, in place of Belushi, who died in 1982. The leads play stars of silent westerns who end up in Mexico on what they think is a publicity tour, only to discover that they are expected to defend a village from an evil group of bandits. It's nowhere near as funny as it should have been given the talent on show, but the chemistry between the stars and the gentle digs at the western genre make for a diverting enough entertainment.

    good old story!!

    I remember watching this on video 20 years ago! It still has a good sense of family movies with a predictable but very funny story. My 10 year old thought it was hilarious!

    I cannot fault this movie - it is without a doubt the funniest Chevy Chase, Steve Martin, Martin Short have EVER been.

    The 3 stars of Hollywood movie series The Three Amigos, their ego's get the better of them and they find themselves cast out of their studio. However all is not lost when a sexy senorita invites them to 'Come to Santa Poco and put on show with the infamous El Wappo". However chaos ensues when it becomes clear to our heroic trio that the people of Santa Poco believe they really are horse-riding hero's and not just out of work actors.

    Everything about it is spot on comic genius. You'd need to have had the humour part of your brain completely removed not to laugh at such oddities as El Wappo, The Singing Bush and the Amigo salute. Watch it! WATCH IT NOW!!
