This slow paced movie is instantly engaging. The texan/ mexican locations are beautifully captured and the direction allows the actors to breathe. The result is a visually beautiful, engaging drama that is often witty and keeps you fully intrigued throughout its duration. A masterclass in all things film.
This is a hard film to pigeon hole.
The first 45 minutes are at times confusing as we see the story laid out in non-chronilogical flashback and up to date segments, not always sure where events lie in the story.
But as the story unfolds and the characters are revealed the story takes form and becomes easy to follow.
Tommy lee jones Stars and Directs and Holds the film together in the early stages. The supporting cast is fantastic with a stand out performance by January Jones.
If you want something a little different and allow the story to unfold, you just might enjoy a little gem of a movie.
