The dancing is obviously topnotch from such a company, but I've discovered that I am a real stick in the mud - I like my ballets en pointe, and I just don't find modern dance inspiring. If you like it modern, you'll probably like this.

  • Contemporary at it's best

This type of dancing is not for everyone. It is however the best type of contemporary around. If you are new to contemporary you might try watching the performances in a different order to that on the DVD. The last one, Sergeant's Early Dream, is probably more interesting to watch and makes more sense for someone who is not used to contemporary work. The middle one, Lonely Town is more jazzy so if you are a fan of jazz dance you might want to try that first. The first one, Intimate letters is very random and contemporary and I would suggest watching it last (or not at all). If you are someone who prefers the traditional type of dancing, I suggest watching this with an open mind.
