Three Kings

George Clooney, Mark Wahlberg and Ice Cube form a fantastic trio of soldiers brought together in the aftermath of the first Gulf War.
The most interesting aspect of this film is the way it is shot - in order to demonstrate the dry heat in the desert, the film is shot in bright light and viewers are warned not to adjust their television sets. It works remarkably well - as do the stunts and special effects.
Whilst Wahlberg is typically cool and popular, it is actually Ice Cube who isn't typecast as a gun-toting war enthusiast but as someone who is actually very peaceful and who plays by the rules.
The soundtrack takes you back to the early 90's which is also great!- Was this review helpful to you?

(48)American Mossies
By HarveyE (4 reviews) , 19 Apr 2013Jumped-up American bullsh*t from the word go. Attitude, ego and testosterone are in abundance, with mindless 'soldier boy' characters that irritate like a thousand biting mosquitoes and then, late on, attempt to redeem themselves by behaving like adult human beings. Too late; I wanted to swat them all after the first few minutes. Do these character types really exist? Can it be that some confused individuals really aspire to be like the American soldier so typical of this type of film? Sadly, I believe they do....- Was this review helpful to you?

Fantastic story about war and soldiers
By KelSmell (185 reviews) from Telford , 29 Oct 2012I thought this film was really good. It did surprise me how good it was and I would throughly recommend it to anyone. I thought the storyline was brilliant and also the way it was put together. There was a lot of swearing in it, which surprised me. What a great film though. A must for all action / drama film fans- Was this review helpful to you?

Clooney has come a long way
By Bassman71 (630 reviews) from Didsbury, England , 21 Jan 2012End of the first Gulf War, US soldiers find map in Iraqi soldier's backside, Major gets involved, go looking for Saddam Husseins gold.
Average war comedy/drama that shows how far George Clooney has come as an actor with him being on autopilot throughout this film.
Spike Jonze offers some decent comic relief and Mark Wahlberg and Ice Cube just play themselves although Nora Dunn is good as the tough news reporter
It has its share of moments along the way but isnt anything out of the ordinary and quite predictable with a few silly bits as well.- Was this review helpful to you?

Middle Eastern Drama
By Niskin (50 reviews) from Cambridge , 08 Nov 2011[Highly rated reviewer]
Very funny in places and visually powerful action scenes of fighting in the Middle East. Yet this also has a moving story. Well-rounded film; very much not just a comedy.- Was this review helpful to you?
